Scoliosis Xray

The top X-ray, is my daughter’s scoliosis spine. She has a 20 degree Cobb Angle curve. The Xray on bottom was taken while she was wearing her brace (see the buckles). The brace was able to “unbend” the curve by -7degreees. I understand that -5 degrees is considered good, so -7 is great.

  2. I completely understand what you are going through. I am here to give you some hope :) I am apart of of an amazing non profit organization call CLEAR. We have developed a treatment protocol for scoliosis without the use of bracing or surgery. We are working hard everyday to improve our protocol to provide solutions for victims of scoliosis. Check out the website for more info http://www.clear-institute.org there is a movie you can watch on the procedure and you can request an info packet if you would like. You my also go to my personal website http://www.alabamascoliosiscenter.com and see a great pre and post of a female 67 with a 30 degree curve reduced to 13 degrees. We are getting correction in all ages and size curves but our goal is to start treating these cases during the “watch and wait phase” AKA observation phase. One thing all scoliosis cases have in common is the curves all started out small.

I was diagnosed when I was 16 in my last year of highschool and i only found out because I was in so much pain i couldnt sit or walk i had to be in a reclining position to have any relief. Mine was a 20 degree too but I just got regular chiropractic treatments, about 3 a week for a month and then less later and it helped so much. I dont think surgery is good unless you have like a curve over 30 and its seriously messing up your daily life. I even got pregnant at 18 and i was scared i was going to be in so much pain since most pregnant women have bad back pain even without having scoliosis but I never felt better, I only had about three chiropractic treatments the last three weeks of my pregnancy. I definitely recommend chiropractic treatment it helped me so much. I havent gotten in 6 months and i still feel great. It really helped.

I have a 20 degree curve for scoliosis. I have just been diagnosed and I am turning 18 next week.
There are no treatments if you have stopped growing. At age 19, you have most likely finished growing so there is not much you can do. A brace is only required to straighten your back if you are still growing, however it does nothing if you are already fully grown. My doctor tells me that there is nothing we can do unless the pain is very severe, then we might have to resort to physiotherapy or surgery. My doctor recommended swimming to strengthen your core muscles; it helps relieve some of the pain.

Hey MyHeart4Him, I was wondering how old your daughter was at the time the xray with the brace on was taken. My daughter was diagnosed last year and we are trying to gather some info. Thank you much
