5th Grade Dare Graduation

Olivia won 1st prize

My daughter’s school participates in the DARE program. Today was graduation day. Deputy Holbrook teaches the course and was in charge of the graduation ceremony today. As part of the Dare final exam, each student had to write an essay about what they learned in Dare (Drugs and Alcohol prevention course). My daughter spend a full week writing her exam, proofing it and practiced saying it to me and her Dad. Each class room had a “Best Essay” winner. Olivia won for her classroom. She was pretty happy about winning.

Well today at the graduation, Holbrook called each classroom winner up to the stage. He told them is had chosen an overall winner. Then, he announced Olivia’s name. She looked shocked. Then, Holbrook told her she had to read her essay to the assembly. “I do?” He gave her the microphone and she stepped up to the plate. She read loud and clear her whole essay. I am such a proud momma.

She won the medal for the classroom award and the pin for being the overall winner.
