Pimp my Sewing Machine

I love my sewing machine cover and I enjoy making them for family and friends.  I think my Mom’s turned out the nicest.  I also love looking at everyone else’s covers, so I decided to start a Flickr Group called, Pimp my Sewing Machine.

Join the fun.  I would love you see your creation.

Lapel Posie Tutorial for St. Patrick’s Day

This tutorial is perfect for a teen or preteen to make for teachers and friends.  It is also a great project ot make in mass for a large group or tag sale.
How to make a St. Patrick’s Day Lapel Posie
Makes 20 – total cost $2.00 (or 10 cents each), because I had tags and [...]

My Sweet Pink Sewing Machine

I have a sewing machine.  It’s about 11 or 12 years old, but I’ve used it many hours.  Even though it is an “older” machine, I will surprised and devastated when it kicked the bucket.  The pedal went out and right now I can’t afford to replace it.  You know, forced frugality.
So, I borrowed a [...]

Handmade Tea Towels

My kitchen needed sprucing up.  If I wasn’t practicing (practically a slave to it) Forced Frugality, I would have ran to Walmart or Target and purchased new towels and pot holders to spruce things up.  Well, that’s just not in the cards right now, so I have to make do with what I have on hand.
I [...]

Times have changed….

I have a confession.  I love Thrift Store.  I bought this book a few weeks ago.

This picture caught my eye and is the reason I bought the book.

I love Burberry plaid. I would totally wear this outfit today.  I especially love the boots.  Imagine my surprise when I found this picture.

Times have changed.  A book [...]

Birthday present for Bitty Girls

I’ve spent the whole day sewing a birthday gift for my cousin who is turning six.  I made her shorts, skirt, lined vest and a headband from strawberry fabric.  I think the items turned out really cute.  I still need to do some hand stitching, but basically the items are finished.
For the vest and skirt, [...]

Why Knot? Purses

I love these purses.  Each purse was stitched with love and care and I hate to see them go.  But, I want to make more, so I gotta make room.
If you are interested in buying one, leave a comment and I will contact you via email.
Edited 02/13/08 to show what the purse looks liked looped [...]

I finally finished it…

After 6 months (or more), I finally finished the dress for Olivia.  Disappointingly, it is a little bit too big.  But, it is done.

The fabric is beautiful.  Olivia really did a good job picking it out, but the fabric was  a challenge the sew.  It told her Saturday that I was going to finish sewing [...]

A Snowman ball

My nephew Gavin is 3.  I made the white polar tech ball as a prototype for the snowman ornaments (seen here).  I couldn’t throw it away, so I painted a snowman face on it and plan to give it to Gavin for Christmas.  Turned out cute, No?

Vintage Sewing Book

I was cruising around on Google tonight and found this cool sewing book titled Handicrafts for Girls.

Love it.

The second cape is DONE!!!!

I finished Alex’s cape.  Here is the reverse.

Turned out pretty cute, No?

Star Wars Lounge Pants

Back during the summer, I bought a vintage Star Wars sheet from the Thrift Store.  I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it, but I thought PJ would like it to make a tent or fort.  Then, I found out all the blog girls were making stuff with sheets (lots of fabric, [...]

Little Boy Pants

Mom came over yesterday and helped me finish up my Christmas sewing list. I made the pants for Gavin, while she sewed PJ’s snuggi blanket and tissue covers.
I am in love with the puppy pants.  This was left over fabric from PJ’s back to school book bag.  I am so glad I found a good [...]

Snuggi

PJ wants me to order him a snuggi blanket for TV.  He loves cozy things – polar tech pants, sweat pants, microfiber blankets, polar tech sheets, etc….
So, my mom made him one yesterday from some polar tech I had on hand.  She used Joey’s pattern from here.
When I make a picture, I will post it.

My To Do List is updated

I am sewing my fingers to the bone for Christmas.  Today, I took a few minutes to update my sewing list.  Check it out.  It still needs tweaking, but it is much more accurate.

I wish I could find this pattern at the thrift store. Isn’t it adorable?

Snowmen ornaments

001, originally uploaded by MyHeart4Him.
I made 6 snowmen ornaments for PJ’s cub scout pack to give to the Methodist girls home. Currently the home is housing 6 girls in need of Christmas gifts. PJ’s troop is making a stocking for each girl. I keep trying to pick a favorite, but they all have such personality.

Another Super Hero Cape

I liked Ashley’s cape so much, I am making another one for her brother, Alex.  Alex is 7.  His cape will be red and blue.  Below is a in progress picture.

Xmas gift for my cousin, Ashley – Super Hero Cape

I found a cute tutorial for a super hero cape back during the summer.  I bookmarked it for “later.” As Christmas closed in, I thought of making a gift for my 2 little cousins.  Ashley is 5 and a little princess.  Her cape is hot pink with her name on one [...]
